Laikipia County Assembly legislators were involved in a brawl on Thursday, November 12, over the suspension of County Clerk Jasper Mutwiri.
The MCAs were set to debate Mutwiri's suspension for a period of six months after the county legislators accused him of overseeing irregular employment of staff.
Journalists who arrived to cover the motion were blocked from entering the building to cover the proceedings, as chaos escalated.
The Sergent at Arms and some MCAs bundled out journalists with some of the scribes pleading to be allowed into the Assembly.
The session went ahead with Ngobit Ward MCA Robert Maina Muragae slamming the move to block the journalists from the session.
"Mr Speaker there is a guard by the name Kinyua, who we have to get an explanation as to why he blocked the media from the assembly.
"We are talking about media coming to the Assembly, not an individual's house, do we really have morals. This should be reported to everyone in Laikipia and Kenya," he noted.
The media were also locked out on Wednesday for the better part of the afternoon session and only allowed in after members complained to the Deputy Speaker.
The Mace was guarded by three security officers from the Sergeant at Arm's offices as members vowed that the Assembly sessions will not go on until their motion is expedited.
County Assemblies have seen an increase in violent sessions as chaos erupted at the Homa Bay county assembly on Tuesday, August 18, after two different factions fought over the Speaker's position.
Chaos also erupted at the Bungoma County Assembly in May after a section of MCAs engaged in a shouting match as they debated the ouster of Majority Leader Florence Wekesa.
