Gospel artist Christopher Mosioma famously known as Embarambamba recounted how his attempts to perform a stunt on President Uhuru Kenyatta backfired.
The musician is famous for his wild and energetic performances that have in several instances resulted in injury or destruction of podiums.
Speaking with a local Gusii vlogger on Thursday, November 19, Embarambamba detailed how the Presidential Escort Unit blocked him from performing a stunt on Kenyatta.
The artist was performing at a ceremony in Kisii County where the head of state launched a 100-bed capacity mortuary in February 2019. He was accompanied by ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto.
"While I was performing, I wanted to get closer to the president and then carry him on my shoulders. So I was plotting how to get close to him. He was on a podium behind me.
"I opted to run around the stage, roll up to the crowd and as I saw myself a single roll away from him. I said to myself that once I got to his feet, I would quickly grab him and lift him up. I rolled and then looked up only to find over 30 bodyguards blocking the entire podium," he recalled adding that they realised his act would endanger Kenyatta.
They not only strained him but also called a doctor to evaluate if he was mentally stable. The artist further recounted how he fell into a ditch while performing at one of DP Ruto's fundraiser in Nyamache, Kisii County.
His stunts also nearly broke a dais at a separate event where he performed for Odinga.
"There is this dance I do where I run, jump up, and then flip. I decided to try it on stage, on the wooden part after Raila joined me on the stage.
"When I came back down, I was sent crashing through the floor. Interestingly, only a few people noticed what had happened," he recalled while laughing.
In October 2020, he trended after hanging on a tent where DP Ruto was sitting during an event in Kisii County. The tent nearly tumbled down.
The artist quit secular music for the gospel and has topped charts in Gusii areas. He recorded his first album Ensanako Twebwati Maskani (an ant does not have respect) at 16 years old. He has so far released over five albums.
