A lawyer has written a letter to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) seeking to oust the incumbent President Nelson Havi from office.

In a letter dated Wednesday, November 25, Charles Midenga accused Havi of gross misconduct and sought to also remove Mercy Wambua as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the society.

In a letter seen by Kenyans.co.ke, he appealed to the society members to appoint an interim president as they remove both Havi and Wambua.

He argued that an interim president would oversee the matters regarding the society as they await impending elections.

If the decision is approved by the members, then the two top executives - who have been at odds since Havi took office - will have to exit the helm of the society.

The lawyer had accused Havi of unprocedural tactics in order to disrupt operations at the secretariat.

Midenga accused Havi of colluding with the Vice-Chairperson of the society, Carolyn Daudi.

The lawyer claimed that Daudi had also misused her position within the society by refusing to sign cheques that were meant to be allocated to members. He added that this affected the operations within the LSK.

"The council members are currently meeting and discharging their mandate to the society from their own pockets due to unpaid Council expenses," Midenga noted.

Midenga also purported that the wrangles between the president and the CEO of the society proved to be detrimental to the members and society in general.

He referred to the statements made by Havi who had sought to remove Wambua from office despite the decision from the majority of the members voting to keep her in office.
