Investigative journalism is regarded as the epitome of bravery in the media world as journalists go out of their way to get into the intricate details of a story that powerful people often want to keep secret.

These stories at times don't see the light of day due to various reasons as some may be deemed controversial hence causing the station to pull down the expose.

Covid-19 millionaires:

The expose by NTV journalist Dennis Okari shook the entire system as it exposed the alleged rot that is in the health sector during the fight for the Covid-19 pandemic.

The expose sought to trace the funds from institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank that was meant to aid Kenyans to combat the deadly virus.

The story led different factions of the government to cast blame on one another.

However, on September 23, Nairobi High Court ordered Nation Media Group to pull down the expose from all its platforms pending hearing of the case filed by one of the companies mentioned in the expose.

Drug trafficking Menace by Jicho Pevu:

KTN had published an investigative story on the drug trafficking menace that befell the country in 2011.

The expose was meant to be aired on Jicho Pevu series by Mohamed Ali for the Swahili version and Inside story by Dennis Onsarigo for the English version

Initially, the first episode of the three-part series was aired but days later was pulled off air.

A politician mentioned in the story obtained court orders restraining the station from publishing the expose to which he termed as defamatory.

Corruption Expose:

KTN News had indicated in February 2018, that it would run an investigative piece on alleged corruption claims at a local company.

Investigative Journalist Hussein Mohammed was slated to run the expose highlighting intricate details of the alleged rot.

However, on the D-day, the station pulled off the expose as it continued with the normal programming. No explanation was provided.

Mau Forest Expose

The much-publicised expose on the Mau Forest which was slated to bring a new angle on the demolitions of the Mau Forest was unfortunately pulled off air at the last minute.

Two days after hyping the show on all platforms, the story did not air.

Citizen TV News Anchor Jeff Koinange took to his Twitter account to explain the circumstances citing technical hitches as the ultimate reason.

Chris Msando

KTN in October 2017, had indicated that it would run a documentary that covered the murder of Chris Msando, former ICT boss at IEBC.

The expose was however slated to run during the controversial repeat elections held on October 26 2017.

The piece was pulled down as no explanation was given by the station. It was finally aired in December after the elections had been concluded.
