Thika businessman Julius Gitau alias Gitau wa Mali revealed that he was abducted by unknown persons after missing for over two months.

Gitau resurfaced on Sunday, December 6 after detectives revealed that they had picked up his phone signal while communicating with his wife.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers in Gatanga then proceeded to the house where he was found and taken in for questioning.

According to Gitau, he was abducted by gunmen near the Kenya Revenue Authority officers in Thika, September 21 at around 10 a.m.

"Accompanied by my third wife, who is a police officer in Thika, I reported to my shop in the heart of the town and delivered a parcel to my messenger around 7 am," explained Gitau during his questioning.

The businessman claimed that he fell unconscious after being forced to drink a soda and later found himself in a hall after regaining his consciousness.

"I was made to wash clothes and utensils for the tenants. Once in a while, I was ordered to clean the compound," he added.

Gitau could however not describe the location where he was detained for 11 weeks and did not know the owners of the building.

He also failed to explain the motive of his abduction and could not understand why anyone would turn him into a domestic worker.

The family revealed that no one had contacted them about a ransom despite his abduction for over two months.

Gitau was released after two men walked him to a forest for hours where he was ordered to walk away and not look behind.

He then found a boda boda on a dusty road with the rider offering him his phone to contact the family.

The businessman man was then told he was in an area known as Kamwangi and was offered some cash to board a matatu to Thika by the rider.

Gitau then proceeded to his third wife's house, Selina Nelly where he was traced using phone signals.

Detectives offered Gitau some time to seek medical attention and counseling after appearing traumatised during the interrogation.
