6 Alliance High School Students Arrested, Taken to Court Over Torturing of Form Ones

Six students accused of torturing Form One students at Alliance High School were arrested and arraigned in court on Friday.

The suspects, among them prefects and senior students, were nabbed following an investigation report that disclosed how new students at the academic giant were undergoing horrific bullying including being forced to sleep on graves.

Appearing before the Kikuyu Law Courts, the suspects were charged with assault charges which they denied and were released on a Sh20,000 cash bail.

They were taken to Kikuyu Police Station awaiting payment of the bail.

However, should they fail to raise the amount, five of them who are minors will be remanded at Kiambu Children’s Home.

Revelations of the brutal harassment, which is said to have left some of the junior students with broken limbs, sparked public outrage and condemnation both on mainstream and social media.

The public called for action to be taken against the school's administration and the students suspected of orchestrating the barbaric acts.

Commenting on the matter, Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i ordered principals to probe such cases in schools and take action against those involved insisting that his Ministry would not tolerate such behaviour.
