Woman Carrying Ksh5M Robbed in Lift

A police officer and three other workers were on Wednesday, December 9 arrested after allegedly robbing Ksh5 Million from an accountant.

The incident happened at a business park along Muthithi Road, Westlands by the three workers employed in the building and the officer.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) revealed that the four suspects were armed and robbed the accountant at gunpoint.

"A police officer based at Ruiru police station and three Mitsumi Business Park workers have been arrested by detectives based at Parklands following a robbery with violence incident where they robbed an accountant Ksh5 Million.

"Armed with pistols, the four, together with others who are being sought accosted the accountant while inside a lift as she was heading to deposit the cash in the bank," read a statement from DCI.

The sleuths recovered Ksh 1.1 Million from one of the suspects' houses Albert Ochola, located in Huruma estate, Nairobi.

Ochola worked in the building as a plumber with Ksh1.3 Million recovered Walter Kiverenge's house at Kawagware who had stuffed the cash in a water dispenser.

Bernard Ogutu one of the suspects was arrested with Ksh1.1 Million. Detectives also recovering a brand new TV and two mobile phones were recovered.

The suspects will be arraigned in court on Thursday, December 10.

This comes hours after a Nigerian man was arrested in possession of Ksh123 million stashed inside hand luggage at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

The suitcase had foreign currencies including 880,000 US dollars (Ksh97 million), 63,000 Nigerian Naira (Ksh18 million) and 60,000 euros (Ksh8 million).
