Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi on Wednesday, December 9, rolled out a challenge where he promised a cash reward for the most creative video demonstrating President Uhuru Kenyatta's achievement over the past seven years.
Ngunyi asked Kenyans to pick a side in debunking whether more achievements were made in the first 50 years of independence (1963-2013) or in the past seven years after President Kenyatta took power in 2013.
Rolling out the challenge on his Twitter page, Mutahi disclosed that he had chosen president Uhuru's side of history.
"Say whatever you want, but Uhuru Kenyatta is a revolutionary... If you disagree with me, you can sit on a pin," he wrote.
Dubbed Challenge 57, the analyst asked Kenyans interested in participating to create a fun, creative song or dance showing what they were most proud of.
They would then post the 1-minute video on Twitter and tag both the analyst and his 5th Estate TV.
The most creative video and with the highest retweets by 5pm on Sunday, December 1, would win Ksh57,000. He added that the runners up would also get other prizes.
Mutahi's post has since elicited a number of mixed reactions with some Kenyans in support of president Uhuru and others vouching for his predecessors.
"Mutahi I know you're a man of honour but on this you're very wrong. Kibaki too would have borrowed excessively and built white elephant projects," James stated.
"I'm an informed Kenyan and I know that Uhuru has done a lot we can be proud of. He has achieved a lot than the famous Kibaki," Moses Githuga weighed in.
"You have failed at advising the President correctly on socioeconomic and political issues. Now you want to flatter him with videos from youth desperate to get Sh57, 000 because his government has failed at creating a suitable environment to help them secure jobs or start businesses," Nahashon Kimemia commented.
Ngunyi is reputed for mastering the craft of predicting political developments which time has proven the professor's knowledge of political science and set him apart from his peers.
