A video has emerged of a giraffe chasing a car full of tourists at Masai Mara Game Reserve and nearly stepping on it.
The video emerged in the week beginning Monday, December 7 , as the tourists were leaving the famous game reserve after a tour day.
International media houses reported that no one was injured in the incident, which includes Dicken Muchena, 27, a Kenyan teacher and photographer.
The clip showed the giraffe, which was afar, approaching the car in a matter of seconds before overtaking it and standing at its front.
The driver was forced to reverse the car as the wild animal chased after them.
Muchena confirmed that the giraffe ran so close to the car that it nearly hit the vehicle which did not have a roof and had tourists on board.
"The giraffe seemed harmless at first - but all of a sudden it turned foul and chased us from its natural habitat.
"It even tried to block our exit at one point - but we managed to getaway. It was certainly a scary adventure," Muchena told Daily Mirror.
Giraffes, which are the world's tallest animals, run as fast as 35 miles an hour over short distances and cruise comfortably at 10 miles an hour over longer distances.
The giraffe population in Tsavo-Mkomazi almost doubled from an estimated 2,891 in 2014 to an estimated 4,323 in Feb. 2017.
Countrywide, however, some species of the animal have been placed on the highly endangered list with numbers continually falling year after year.
