Kenya Railways Unveils New JKIA Train Schedule

The Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC) on Thursday, December 17 unveiled the Nairobi Commuter Train schedule to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Kenya Railways kicked off services on the new line on Thursday after previously launching it on Monday, December 7 in a ceremony attended by Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia.

The Corporation dubbed the train service as the cleanest way to travel and an eco-friendly way to get to JKIA as Kenyans plan their vacations.

Kenya Railways revealed that passengers will enjoy a subsidised fee of Ksh250 for the next 90 days which is half the normal cost.

"Nairobi are you ready! Join us as we celebrate the launch of the Airport Express Train! Are you ready to get to town from the airport in just 25 minutes?

"Take the express service train at 5:45 am, 11:00 am and 8:00 pm for just 250 bob for the next 90 days," read a statement from Kenya Railways. 

The service will have three trains leaving the Nairobi Railway station in town to JKIA with the first departing at 5:45 a.m and getting to JKIA at 6:35 a.m.

The train will get to the Embakasi station at 6:10 a.m after which passengers will embark on a bus ride to JKIA at 6:20 a.m.

The next train will depart the town station at 11:00 a.m, arrive in Embakasi at 11:25 a.m and get to JKIA at 11:50 a.m after a 15-minute bus ride.

The last train from the town station will depart at 8:00 p.m and take 35 minutes to the Embakasi station with passengers taking a bus at 8:35 p.m which will get to JKIA at 9:00 p.m.

There will be two trains from JKIA to the Nairobi Railways station in town with first departing the Embakasi station at 6:19 a.m after a bus ride leaving the airport at 6:00 a.m, the train is set to get to town at 6:45 a.m.

The last trip will see the bus leaving JKIA at 11:50 a.m and get to Embakasi at 12:05 p.m with the passengers embarking on a train ride at 12:10 p.m and arriving in town at 12:44 p.m.
