Kandara Member of Parliament Alice Wahome has accused the police of harassment after they allegedly raided the home of Garissa Woman Representative Anab Subow Gure on Friday, December 18, 2020.

Taking to social media, Wahome who is a staunch supporter of DP William Ruto expressed her disgust at the incident, stating that the measure taken by the police against a nursing mother was totally uncalled for.

"DCI, Kibicho, IG or Is it Matiang’i. Hon Anab is a nursing mother. What is the emergency sending you to her house at night with over 20 police officers? Anab can’t breathe. Give us a break lords of impunity," Wahome lamented.

"DCI or Kibicho or IG or Matiang’i whoever because it’s hard to tell who is in charge. Stop harassing Hon Anab by sending a Lorry load of police because of photo pose in a foreign embassy office. You can summon her to the DCI office on Monday,"  added Wahome.

The Woman Rep recently posted a photo after her visit to a foreign embassy.

The photo, that has been doing rounds online showed the legislator posing in front of a portrait of Somalia President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and the Somali flag.

The Garissa Woman Rep has since stated that her security detail was withdrawn on conditions she termed as unclear. She further stated that a contingent of police officers had been seen patrolling her estate for the better part of  Friday, December 18.

"Even if you withdraw my security, I have Allah The Almighty to protect me against any harm," Anab stated in a message posted online.

"I cannot be intimidated nor coerced by anybody. I am available and can be summoned at any time of the week but not intimidation and arm-twisting. We’re not in a police state. Kenya is a sovereign country," she added.

The incident comes after the Somali government on December 15, 2020, severed ties with the Kenyan government, in an announcement made by the country's Minister of Information Osman Abukar Dubbe.

The Flag of Somalia accused Kenya of political interference and violations against its sovereignty. This is after President Uhuru Kenyatta hosted President Musa Bihi Abdi of Somaliland.
