A 29-year-old Kenyan born basketball star was arrested and detained in Australia over the death of his girlfriend. The body of the deceased was found burning in the couple's house.

Chudier Thowath Pal was apprehended by the police who suspected that he murdered 30-year-old Stephanie Robinson on Saturday morning, January 2.

The duo lived in Doubleview, Perth. Prior to his arrest, police had launched a manhunt for the celebrity, locked down the streets and alerted residents not to approach the suspect if spotted.

Upon his arrest at 2.09 pm that same day, an investigating officer noted in a memo that Thowath Pal was rambling about having "a neutron star for a father".

A Perth court-ordered law enforcers to detain him for seven days at a health facility where he was directed to undergo several mental check-ups

Police said that the suspect was spotted rambling displaying signs of psychosis by also talking about the "galaxy inside his head".

Psychosis is a condition that affects the way your brain processes information. It causes you to lose touch with reality.

The deceased had posted on Facebook that she was in in a "complicated relationship" since November 2, 2020. She, however, was not the mother of the basketballer's two young children.

Pal grew up in Kenya before moving to Western Australia where he played in NBL1 teams including the Rockingham Flames and the Mandurah Magic.

He also played for the University of North Carolina Ashville Bulldogs and trained with the Perth Wildcats.

The 29-year-old returned to the Flames after playing one season with Mandurah Magic.

The case will be mentioned on Monday, January 11.
