Maurice Mbetsa stunned the matatu industry after he successfully converted his rickety-looking matatu into a limousine.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Mbetsa confirmed that it took him and his team just one month to convert the old-looking van into a stylish limousine.
Mbetsa got the inspiration back in December while looking to hire a posh ride for his employees to enjoy a weekend of fun out of Nairobi.
"I took one month off numeral in December, just to relax but after 3 days I got bored and decided to do something different.
"In November I wanted to rent a limo for my team to enjoy a weekend, but what was available did not make sense, and so I spent my off days building one," stated Mbetsa.
He would later share a video detailing the process which gave birth to a dashing yellow-coloured ride.
The clip showed people at work; inserting new chassis and transforming the body to give it a designer look with an elaborate music system.
The car had LED-coloured floors, star-light roof, customised wheels and a fridge to serve cold drinks while on transit. The designer of the car also fitted voice sensors.
The whole process set him back Ksh1.25 million but after the car hit the streets, hire requests pushed him to start the process of converting another.
In his regular job, Mbetsa manages runs a company that majors on electronics.
He says his company has produced Pima Wall Thermometer, a thermo gun designed to operate in public spaces including schools, religious centers, offices and public institutions among others.
