Jaguar Kanyi, Starehe Member of Parliament stormed a Multi-Billion property along Nairobi Landhies Road despite a restraining court order issued on December 2020.

Jaguar demolished the gate, buildings and roughed up the security guards at the premises.

Ada Obura, Chief Magistrate summoned and informed him that he risked a six-month jail term for contempt of court. Jaguar who has appeared in court several times was then asked to defend his actions.

The magistrate also forbid him and the directors of David Engineering Limited from occupying the property until a hearing set for Tuesday, February 16.

This was after Intercounty Importers and exporters Limited, the purported owners of the property, submitted an application successfully through lawyer Kathy Kilonzo informing the court of Jaguars defiance.

Kathy, under a certificate of urgency, requested the court to force Jaguar to pay her client ksh1.3 million for damages to property and invasion.

"Unless this application is certified urgent and enforcement orders granted, the orders of this honorable court will be rendered academic and nugatory,” she added.

According to the Trespass Act, any person who without reasonable excuse enters, is or remains upon, or erects any structure on, or cultivates or tills, or grazes stock or permits stock to be on, private land without the consent of the occupier thereof shall be guilty of an offense.

Under Section 12 of Contempt of Court Act, 1971, contempt of court can be punished with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to Ksh 3000, or with both.
