Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe was forced to abruptly end his meeting after a security breach on Thursday, February 4, 2021.

The virtual meeting had just started to mark World Cancer Day when hackers infiltrated the meeting.

A source who was in attendance told Kenyans.co.ke that a stranger joined and disrupted the meeting by scribbling obscene drawings in the screen that was being shared to the attendees.

Soon after the stranger infiltrated the meeting, the hacker shared pornographic images and videos as well as hurled insults, to the disgust of the high-level participants.

"The meeting had just started and the only notable person who had spoken so far is David Makumi, a Kenyan oncologist," said another source.

The virtual meeting was ended prematurely after the rude interruption.

The Health CS was a victim of what is commonly referred to as ‘Zoom-bombing’ by tech experts.

It is a phenomenon in which individuals gain access to online and virtual calls only to post and share screens of insulting or explicit content.

Zoom video conferencing application has become one of the most popular video conferencing technologies in the wake of the new remote and socially-distanced environment.

In November, Zoom released a feature that allows users to report disruptive participants and allows the host to kick the offending user out of the meeting.

Ministry of Health officials created a new link to continue with the celebration of World Cancer Day.
