The National Assembly has adopted a new working calendar for the fifth session (2021).
In a statement, the assembly announced that it had suspended all Wednesday morning and afternoon sessions with effect from February 17, 2021.
In addition, night sessions were introduced on Tuesday and Thursday, running from 7pm to 9pm.
Other sessions on Tuesday and Thursday would be in the afternoon from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm. There will also be sessions on Thursdays from 10 am to 1 pm.
The Assembly indicated that businesses not sponsored by the Majority Party, Minority Party or a Committee shall have precedence over all other businesses.
The House committee would determine the order.
The date for the sixth session shall be announced on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 2:30pm.
In the past, the assembly held afternoon sittings on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with Wednesday having morning and afternoon slots.
During the fourth session, the assembly had to suspend the Tuesday and Thursday sittings in a bid to curb the spread of Covid-19.
The assembly represents the people of the constituencies and special interests in the National Assembly. It deliberates and resolves issues of concern to the people.
A draft Budget Policy Statement (BPS), is expected to among items given priority following the resumption of sessions at the assembly.
