Uhuru Issues Orders to New CASs After Govt Reshuffle

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday, February 18, met with officers in the Senior Ranks of the Executive after he reshuffled some officers in various ministries.

The meeting held at State House, Nairobi, brought together Cabinet Secretaries, Chief Administrative Secretaries, and Principal Secretaries.

In the meeting, the President spoke to the officers on which government projects to prioritize in the current calendar year among other matters, deliberate on the status of ongoing National Government programs covering Big 4 Agenda and Vision 2030 flagship projects.

He stated that among the top priorities was the completion of ongoing government projects and programs across all sectors and regions of the country.

Further, the President instructed the officials to ensure prudent utilization of public resources in service delivery, stating that Kenyans must always get the highest value return for their money.

The Head of State urged the officers to embrace teamwork and unity of purpose so as to deliver the promise of a better and prosperous Kenya for all.

On  Wednesday, February 17, Uhuru reshuffled the Principal Secretaries and CASs; Eight PSs, six CASs were reshuffled and eight new appointed in the latest change. 

In the new changes, the State Department for Mining was also merged with the State Department for Petroleum to form a single State Department within the Ministry of Petroleum and Mining.  

Dr Belio Kipsang was transferred from the Education Ministry to be the PS for State Department for Regional and Northern Corridor Development. 

Dr Juma Jwan replaced Kipsang as the CAS State Department for Early Learning & Basic Education. Jwan previously served at the State Department for Vocational and Technical Training.

Zack Kinuthia was also appointed CAS under the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage. Kinuthia was previously the CAS for Education. 

Hassan Noor Hassan took over as Education CAS. Dr Sara Ruto was also appointed CAS in the Education docket.
