The one hour show is expected to begin on Saturday, February 27, from 5pm to 6pm.

Unlike most shows hosted on traditional media which either use the English or Swahili dialects, Gathu will host the program in sheng language, hoping to attract a youth audience.

The media personality boasts a career of over 20 years since 1991 when he was involved in the Look, Think, Stay Alive project, a campaign about road safety.

He went on a break after he was laid off from Nation FM. Previously, the renowned personality also launched Kenya’s first breakfast show Power Breakfast alongside Kobi Kihara, marking the dawn of a new era on Kenyan TV

Other than the show, Gathu also stars in Maisha Magic Plus’ drama series Kina. He plays Fred Tandala, a character he describes as “a happy-go-lucky guy with rebelliousness to him that pushes him to curve his own path despite being born and raised in wealth. He is married to Nana Tandala, played by hitmaker Sanaipei Tande.

Kina follows the ruthless battle for survival between the wealthy, powerful and the downtrodden who toil for the rich but reap nothing from their hard work.

"I have always believed in re-defining my parameters within the media focal. I started off as a Master of Ceremonies at Pre-wedding parties back in 1989 then quickly joined theatre the same year and loved it. I had always been captivated by television in all its form be it as an actor or as show host and on the radio as well, so being in the telenovela space is just part of a long journey that started way back.," he told Kenyans.co.ke in a previous interview.
