LeadHERs: Life Lessons from African Women features life stories of women who have in their own way influenced society and become an inspiration to thousands of people in their country and the African continent at large.

The Citizen's TV journalist was featured by Facebook for using her experience in the media industry to set an example of what society ought to be.

Tecla Chemabwai, a retired sprinter and an athlete who participated in the Olympics, Boston Marathons and Commonwealth Games for over 30 years and won multiple medals, was featured for being an inspiration and role model to thousands of upcoming athletes.

Each chapter of  LeadHERs: Life Lessons from African Women focuses on a personal experience and life lesson around how these women have navigated their path to success.

Regional Director Facebook Africa Nunu Ntshingila said this book is a celebration of some of the exceptional African women who in their own right are trail-blazers, motivating and inspiring people and advocating for good across Africa, and the world

“At Facebook, we know that African women are at the helm of shaping the future of our promising continent. They are changemakers, mothers and CEOs," Nunu said.

Facebook also said that they were glad to have used the stories of the 19 African women to help and inspire others.

"We’re excited about their individual stories, inspired by challenges they’ve endured and how they’ve risen above these, and importantly how they’ve turned these into important life lessons to help inspire others,” Nunu added.

Okwara was in 2014 chosen to be a moderator at the Conference of African Minister in Abuja Nigeria and has also hosted national discussions on civic education. She has also worked with Kenya's top media houses.

Tecla Chemabwai is the founder and managing director at Chemabwai- Sang Educational Centre, a schooling facility that has facilitated learning for thousands and an athletic coach up to the early 2000s.

The book is available for free both in digital and physical formats. The over 5000 copies will be distributed across 15 countries, including Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Liberia and Senegal.
