KNEC Issues Deadline for Registration of Technical Examinations

Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has issued a deadline for the registration of technical and business exams in Kenya.

In a statement shared on Wednesday, March 10, the council announced that the registration exercise was open until April 11, 2021, for students preparing to sit for their exams in July.

For those who are seeking to take the tests in October, the registration will be open until July 30, 2021.

The business and technical exams are professional undertaking offered to candidates who have completed primary and/or secondary school education.

Requirements

The institution noted that for students to qualify for the exams in the certificates category, they must hold a KCPE certificate, KCSE certificate with minimum grade of D (plain) and possess a pass in a relevant artisan course.

Under the Diploma courses, the applicants must hold a KCSE certificate with minimum grade of C- and have a pass in a relevant certificate course.

KNEC directed that students pursuing both Technical and Business courses must no register for higher levels before passing the lower versions.

"Candidates who are registering for a higher stage must attach photocopies of their certificates/result slips for the lower stages or stipulated pre-requisite papers passed.

"The photocopies must be verified against the original certificates/result slips and stamped and signed by the head of the institution as true copies of the original," directed KNEC.

Timeline of registration

According to the statement, the registration process will kick off with the registration of Institutional candidates including Business Single and Group subject between March 8 and April 11.

After the registration, the students will be expected to submit project marks by June 21 and planning for hospitality practical papers on July 28.

The period of practical papers is scheduled to beginning on August 2 and end on August 27.
