The bodyguard of the late Keroche heiress Tecra Muigai on Wednesday, March 10, appeared in court as a witness in the inquest of her death.
Eric Cheruiyot, who is a former KDF soldier described Tecra's boyfriend, Omar Lali, as a jealous and possessive man.
He revealed that Lali had threatened him on separate occasions once in Lamu, Kenya, and another time in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The first threats he recalled were in Tanzania when they had gone for Tecra's brother’s birthday party.
Cheruiyot told the Nairobi court that Lali on several occasions verbally abusive Tecra.
"I couldn’t take it. I warned Omar that Tecra was my boss and I wasn't going to allow him to call her those names," he recounted.
It was after the incident, Cheruiyot claimed that Lali threatened him when he said; "I can do something bad to you that even your kids will miss you."
In a later incident, in Lamu, Cheruiyot claimed that Lali reminded him of their altercation in Dar es Salaam issuing him with threats.
"Do you know you’re in my home? What you did to me in Dar es Salaam, I will never forget. You don’t know me," the bodyguard quoted Lali.
The bodyguard revealed that in one instance, the two were engaged in a heated argument to a point where Tecra threw Lali out of her Naivasha, but later allowed him back after a two-hour conversation.
On Tuesday, March 9, Tecra's mother Tabitha Karanja appeared in court where she revealed that she had noted suspicious money transfers from Tecra’s account to her boyfriend Omar Lali.
She tabled the financial statements, claiming that Tecra could have been coerced by Lali to transact the amount in question.
