County Issues Update on Kiraitu Murungi's Health

Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi has tested positive for Covid-19, the county's Deputy Governor confirmed the news adding that the governor is okay and in isolation as advised by his doctors.

This is a day after the governor received the covid 19 jab. "We thank God because he is quite okay, he is doing quite well. He has been advised by the doctors to do self-isolation and he will be back after few days," said Meru deputy governor Titus Ntuchiu

He further cautioned the residents to take precautions given by the ministry of health with the third wave hitting. Ntichui warned that the numbers have been on the rise citing the latest records.

"I want to caution all the Meru people that this wave is very strong and it's here with us. I want to advise everyone to take the measures given by the MOH. Let us always wash our hands with soap and water, wear masks, keep a safe distance so that we can be able to avoid this disease," he advised.

Murungi is among the leaders who have tested positive for the virus.ODM party leader Raila Odinga also tested positive for the virus on March 11 after he was hospitalized at Nairobi hospital. Raila was advised to self-isolate until yesterday when he checked in to the hospital for a check-up.

Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga earlier today sent his bodyguards and driver home as a precaution after one of them tested positive for covid 19. This was after he received the jab at his home in Segere village.

According to Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi on Friday, March 19,1,354  individuals have tested for Covid-19, out of a sample size of 7,732 tested in the last 24 hours.
