Media personalities are known for going the extra mile when it comes to giving their better halves that memorable birthday treat.

While most men would rather settle either for a bouquet of flowers, chocolates, dinner dates and other treats, some often take it up a notch and spend millions in order to appreciate their wives.

Kenyans.co.ke takes a look at five media personalities who broke the bank on their wives for their birthdays.

Uthiru MCA Erick Ndungu

MCA Erick Ndung'u surprised his wife Njeri Njoroge when he bought her a brand new white Mercedes Benz as her birthday gift on July 7, 2020. 

The MCA had planned the surprise with the help of his wife’s friends among, them KTN presenter Milly Chebet. During the party, Njeri was tricked into the entrance of the hotel, where she found a brand new white Mercedes Benz adorned with balloons.

A brand new Mercedes Benz retails at around Ksh3.3 million.  

She teared up as the car was driven towards her, and asked why none of her friends had hinted the surprise to her. The mother of two was overwhelmed when her two kids and hubby embraced her following the surprise. Soon after Njeri took her husband and children for a test drive. The two have been married for 12 years.

KBC Presenter Bonnie Musambi

KBC Anchor Bonnie Musambi managed to pull off a special surprise for his wife and counterpart Betty Musambi on her birthday in July 2020.

Bonnie gifted his spouse a cheque worth Ksh 1 million and an iPhone worth Ksh 150,000 as she celebrated her 31st birthday.

In a video shared on their social media platforms, the couple could be seen entering their house only to be surprised by the friends and family.

Delighted by the surprise, Betty broke down in tears as she thanked her husband and friends for the kind gesture.

"I thank my love, Bonnie for the birthday surprise and thank you to our friends for making it happen," she stated.

MP Sankok

Not to be left behind, Jubilee nominated MP David Ole Sankok gifted his wife a luxurious brand new Subaru Outback which retails at around Ksh 3.6 million.

The lawmaker took time to express his love for his wife and appreciate the milestones they had reached as a couple.

"My love; You left your father's stone house, you left two Datsun cars in your father's compound, you left your father's Chevrolet car, you left a Toyota lorry in your father's compound, you left three tractors in your father's compound and followed a poor disabled boy to my homestead with an axe and njora (machete) as the biggest machines," he stated.

The law maker affirmed his undying love for her and commended his wife for choosing him despite not being well off.

Jalang'o

Media Personality Felix Odiwour alias Jalang’o threw an exquisite invite-only birthday party at the Radisson Blu hotel in Nairobi for his wife Amina Chao who was celebrating her birthday in October 2020.

The flamboyant radio presenter broke the bank with exotic wine, champagne filled at every table. Among the personalities who attended the party included Milele FM Presenter Alex Mwakideu, Chris Kirwa and his wife Cate Kirwa, founder of Devine collections Mercy Maluli and the Wa Jesus Family (Kabi wa Jesus and Milly wa Jesus).

Jalang'o took to social media to pen a heartwarming message to his wife, thanking her for the endearing moments together.

"Thank you for being the amazing person you are and the amazing pillar you are in our family. May this new chapter open more doors for you! Happy birthday, Love. Jaber is Jaber!" he wrote.

Arguably known as the birthday party that made headlines, Bonfire Adventures CEO Simon Kabu surprised his wife, Sarah Kabu with a Ksh 30 million birthday offering.

Businesses almost came to a standstill along Nairobi's Koinange street as the motorcade blazed through the streets to take the gifts to Sarah's office.

Among the gifts accorded to his wife included a new Range Rover Sport, a 5-tier red velvet cake and an after party at the Kiza Lounge in Nairobi.

The couple is known for spending millions of cash on each other during vacations and weekend getaways. The two have been married for 11 years.
