Kenya Railways has moved to ease the commute for Nairobi residents by linking their rail service to a new bus service.
Those using the Nairobi Commuter Service (NCS) will now have a direct connection to their respective places of work after using the trains to the Nairobi Central Station.
The new bus service will serve Westlands, Yaya and Upper Hill area offering affordable pricing for between Ksh30 and Ksh50 from the Central Business District (CBD) to various destinations on the routes.
The new routes are in addition to the current JKIA schedule which has multiple times as well.
Passengers will purchase their tickets on board the buses and are directed to wear their masks in adherance to the Covid-19 protocols.
Upper Hill schedule - Ksh50 fare
This route will serve Meladin, KMA, CIC Britam, TSC, Kadhis Court, CBC, Kasneb and KNH.
The morning bus is scheduled to depart from the Central Station at 7:45am and end the commute at KNH at 8:06 am.
The evening bus is scheduled to leave the Central station at 4:10p.m. before arriving at KNH at 4:35p.m. and making it's way back to the CBD at 5 pm.
Westlands Schedule - Ksh30 fare
The bus will be dropping passengers at Jeevanjee, Museum Hill, CFC Stanbic, Chiromo, Westlands Bus Terminus, Brookside, Safaricom, ABSA, ABC place and James Gichuru.
The first bus will depart from the Central station at 7:46 a.m. with an expected arrival time of 8:08 a.m. in Westlands and 8:17 a.m. at ABC place.
The evening bus is scheduled to leave the Central station at 4p.m. before arriving at Westlands at 4:30 p.m. and making it's way back to the CBD at 5:10 p.m.
Yaya Shedule - Ksh50 fare
Key Destinations: Serena, Integrity Centre Chancery, Maktaba Kuu, Nairobi hospital, D.O.D, Hurlingham, Chaka Place, Yaya Centre
The first bus will depart from the Central station at 7:55 a.m. with an expected arrival time of 8:30a.m. at Yaya Centre.
The evening bus is scheduled to leave the Central station at 4p.m. before arriving at Yaya Centre at 4:30 p.m. and making it's way back to the CBD at 5:15 p.m.
JKIA schedule - Ksh 50 fare
Key Destinations: Embakasi village Railway Station, Cargo Area, Central Square
The first bus will depart from the JKIA at 6 a.m. with an expected arrival time of 6:15 a.m. at Embakasi Village Railway Station (EKV).
The bus does anumber of trips through the day from the two stations giving commuters from JKIA transport solutions to get to the Central Business District by connecting with the commuter train.
The latest bus leaves the EKV at 8:35 p.m with an expected arrival time at JKIA being 8:50 p.m.
