State House Deletes Uhuru's Condolence Message

UPDATE: Friday March 26, The State House deleted posts from social media platforms where the President had sent a message of condolence to the family of a former State House Comptroller.

The president had eulogised the deceased as a hardworking Kenyan patriot who served the nation for many years with great distinction.

Kenyatta had wished the deceased's family God's comfort as they mourned their departed kin.

The deceased was a powerful and long-serving State House Comptroller during former President Daniel Arap's Moi's reign.


President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday, March 26 announced the death of former Kuria East Member of Parliament (MP), Shadrack Roger Mwita Manga.

While sending his condolence message late, the President said the MP passed on on Thursday, March 25.

Manga served as Kuria East MP from March 2013 to July 2017. He was a member of the Kenya African National Union (KANU) and the Amani Coalition.

Kenyatta said that Kenya had lost a progressive leader who exemplified the true meaning of service to mankind.

In the message of comfort to the family, relatives and friends to the late MP, President Kenyatta said that Kenya and especially the residents of Kuria would forever cherish Manga's contribution to the socio-economic development of the region.

Kenyatta went on to say that the late MP was a consummate debater whose contributions enriched Kenyan’s legislation agenda and parliamentary oversight.

“I remember his commitment and devotion in creating a better environment for our people to participate in economic development when he was a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Planning and Trade.

“Indeed, he was a focused and committed public servant who will be remembered for his wise counsel and steadfast leadership,” the president said.

Kenyatta added that the late MP distinguished himself as a dependable steward who defender of public interests by championing for better laws to enable Kenya s improve their livelihoods.

“We have lost a brave leader whose contribution to the country’s economic growth will be remembered for generations to come,” the president said.

Kenyatta prayed to God to give the late MP’s wife, Anne Wesiko Manga and the whole family of the late MP strength and fortitude to bear the loss.

In the same statement released by State House, the President mourned veteran journalist, Lorna Irungu who died on Monday, March 22. He eulogised her as an outstanding citizen who used her talent to advance national interests.

“I have known Lorna for many years and admired her fighting spirit despite the health challenges she faced. She is an inspiration to us all not to give up when things get tough,” he said.

The President finished by praying to God to grant comfort to her husband Edwin Macharia, her daughter Nancy Mumbi Macharia and their extended family during the time of mourning.
