Kenya Breaks Daily Covid-19 Cases Record

Kenya has recorded 2,008 more Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours which is the highest number ever recorded since the first case was reported in the country.

The cases were reported from a sample size of 11,360 translating to a positivity rate of 17.7%.

In a statement on Friday, March 26, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that the country's total caseload now stands at 128,178.

Of the positive cases, 1,954 are Kenyans while 54 are foreigners. 1,090 are male and 918 are female while the youngest case is a one-year-old infant and the oldest is aged 94.

At the same time, 245 patients were discharged, 165 from home-based care, and 80 from the various hospitals around the country bringing the total number of recoveries to 91,513.

Regrettably, six patients succumbed to the disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 2,098.

Currently, there are 1,192 patients admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 3,777 are on home-based isolation and care. 

124 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 37 of whom are on ventilatory support, and 78 on supplemental oxygen. 9 patients are on observation.

Another 81 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 68 of them in the general wards and 13 in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

In terms of County distribution; Nairobi had 1,071 cases, Nakuru 189, Kiambu 105, Machakos 84 , Mombasa 76, Uasin Gishu 64, Kitui 54, Kisumu 41, Meru 34 , Tharaka Nithi 31 , Kajiado 26, Kakamega 25 , Murang'a 25, Garissa 24 , Makueni 21 , Baringo 20 , Nyandarua 15 , Trans Nzoia 14, Nandi 13, Kilifi 13, Nyeri 12,

Turkana 11, Kericho 6, Laikipia 6, Busia 5 , Embu 4 , Bungoma 3 , Migori 3 , Taita Taveta 3 , Kisii 2 , Siaya 2 , Kwale 1, Marsabit 1, Narok 1 , Bomet 1 , Elgeyo Marakwet 1 and Kirinyaga 1 .

In terms of Sub County distribution; the 1,071 cases in Nairobi are from Embakasi East (108), Lang'ata (104) , Westlands (89), Kibra (86),Mathare (78), Makadara (67), Embakasi West (63), Kasarani (61), Starehe (59), Dagoretti South (57), Embakasi North (56), Embakasi South and Kamukunji ( 48 ) cases each, Dagoretti North ( 44 ) , Embakasi Central (43), Roysambu (40), Ruaraka (20).

On vaccination, 90,340 vaccines have been administered across the country.
