New details about a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier who died in unclear circumstances at their Kahawa Wendani home on Sunday, April 4, have emerged.

His estranged wife, Violet Asale, has shared her version of the events that transpired on the fateful night, claiming that she fought back to defend herself because the husband wanted to suffocate her.

He wasn’t stabbed and he doesn’t even have a stab wound. He fainted. During the scuffle, I freed myself and left him in the bedroom. When he gets angry he likes throwing things in the house and self-harming…” said Asale, a musician who also goes by the stage name, Zian Achana.

Asale further said that after five minutes, the husband called out saying he was having breathing difficulty.

“He started holding his stomach, I don’t know where he hit himself,” said Asale.

Asale’s relatives, who were present when the fight broke out, said they tried to intervene but before they could, the wife pushed Onyango to the wall and the KDF officer collapsed.

Asale’s relatives have also recorded statements, according to a report by K24.

It is reported that the 37-year-old KDF soldier was uneasy about a studio his wife had reportedly hired at Mirema Drive in Roysambu, Nairobi.

To ease his mind, police said Onyango travelled from his Gilgil base in Nakuru to Nairobi to verify the claims by Asale.

Reports indicate that Onyango had bite marks on his chest and injuries on his hand while the wife also sustained injuries on her shoulder.

The deceased body was moved to the Kenya Defense Forces Memorial Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem.

The musician said that she is looking for a lawyer to represent her in Court on Tuesday, April 6.
