US-based politician, Ombari Monari, also known as Cosmo Choy has offered a Chevrolet SUV to Deputy President William Ruto. The businessman who resides in North Carolina owns a fleet of cars and trucks.

Monari, a leader of the Abagusii community in the US, on Friday, April 16 said that the car will be part of the DP's campaign motorcade ahead of the 2022 General Elections.

"I am giving Samoei Ruto a campaign vehicle for free. I, Cosmo Choy, approve this message," Monari posted on his social media pages.

His offer elicited mixed reactions online with a section of followers asking him to donate the car and funds to needy Kenyans rather than to a political course.

The politician has been endearing himself to the DP's camp by supporting Ruto and criticising President Uhuru Kenyatta and pro-Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) politicians.

"Uhuru Kenyatta has 15 months to go home! No power extensions! No BBI! Kenyan people come first before power. Why should he change the constitution and also brag of being the President," Monari castigated Uhuru on April 7.

Monari is also seeking to unseat Embakasi East  MP Babu Owino in 2022. Babu, in November 2020, belittled the politician's aspirations, arguing that he was unfazed by the challenge.

In one of his photos in April 2021, Monari posed with a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) t-shirt with his name and photo imprinted on it, saying that he would run on Ruto's 'hustler' tag.

UDA, linked to Ruto, has been on a nationwide campaign drive recruiting delegates and prospective politicians since 2020.

On Thursday, April 15, Ruto alleged that his position as DP had been occupied by power brokers and cabals linked to Uhuru. In the interview with Citizen TV's anchor Linus Kaikai, the DP said that he would join UDA in the event that he is locked out of Jubilee.

"Very many deputy presidents are fought. It is an unfortunate situation. Given an opportunity, I would not allow my deputy president to be humiliated the way former deputy presidents have been humiliated and the way I have been humiliated.

"I still hope that maybe something will happen and we can salvage Jubilee and put it in a place where it can have its original vision. In the event that does not work out, we have to have a plan B. For us, we have a sister party, now called UDA. In the event Jubilee is not available the next best option is UDA,” Ruto said.
