A businessman linked to the heinous murder of Catherine Nyokabi has allegedly confessed to committing the crime and even told police that he did not regret a thing.

In police reports, the suspect, Evans Karani, 38, a businessman in the transport sector, narrated how he murdered Nyokabi on Wednesday, April 14, before dumping her body in a thicket.

According to the police report, Karani revealed how he had plotted to kill Nyokabi after getting wind that she was seeing someone else.

Karani reportedly told the police that he invited Nyokabi so they could sit and solve their relationship issues - and had even bought her favourite wine.

He told police that they hopped into the car where they drunk together - and on realising that she had become intoxicated, he strangled her with his belt.

He later drove to Tola Estate to dump the body, but his car got stuck in mud near Bob Harris area.

He is said to have chopped up the body before attempting to cover it with mud - and hoping that it would get eaten by wild animals.

Speaking to Citizen TV, Nyokabi's father Gitonga Njogu disclosed that Karani was well known to his family. He said that the problem in their relationship began after they found out that he had five children.

"He came to my home many time and we even know his car. He even visited the deceased's grandmother. When we saw his true standing, Nyokabi had reservations in getting married to him.

"When she tried to leave him, he just kept following her. It seems he committed the act because he had been rejected," stated Njogu.

The father also noted that his daughter's body was found in despicable state after being cut up and doused in acid.

Nyokabi was a mother of one.
