965 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 7,311 in the last 24 hours.
According to a statement from Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Wednesday, April 21, the total number of cases stood at 153,488 and the cumulative number of tests was 1,618,990.
Wednesday's positivity rate was recorded at 13.5% compared to Tuesday's 10.8%.
From the cases, 907 are Kenyans while 58 are foreigners. 560 are males and 405 are females. The youngest is a - three-month-old infant while the oldest is 101 years.
The Ministry of Health also reported that 1,441 patients have recovered from Covid-19, 1,317 from Home-based Care while 124 are from various health facilities countrywide.
The total recoveries now stand at 105,279 of which 76,967 are from Home-based Care and Isolation while 28,312 are from various health facilities.
Unfortunately, 21 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours.
As of Wednesday, April 21, a total of 750,471 persons had been vaccinated, with the ministry raising concern over the shortage of vaccines worldwide.
CS Kagwe also said that the country was expecting a delay in the administration of the second doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine due to the global shortage.
He added that the ministry was planning to acquire 2 million doses of Pfizer and Johnson &Johnson vaccines to complement AstraZeneca amid spiralling demand.
