New details have emerged in a case where actor Ainea Ojiambo is accused of shooting a guard in the Nairobi CBD on Friday, April 30, at Moi Avenue.

Detectives are piecing together evidence to establish a possibility that the thugs caught up in the melee with the actor, could have been the ones that shot dead the guard.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, a senior detective intimated that there might have been another weapon on the scene of crime following some cartridges that were collected.

"We have taken the cartridges to the ballistics so that we can establish which gun fired, killing the guard. There is a possibility that the thugs also had a gun," the detective said.

Another source who did not want to be mentioned due to the sensitivity of the matter said that Ojiambo believes that he shot one of the thugs that had approached him.

"He suspects that it is not his gun. He knows that he shot one of the thugs so his bullet cannot be the one that shot the askari," the source said.

Previously, the actor's advocate, Cliff Ombeta told our news desk that some witnesses alleged that they had heard more than two shots or a shoot out.

He indicated that the police were obligated to conduct a ballistic test on Ojiambo's gun.

"Police have to confirm that the guns and ammunition involved were my clients. There are reports alleging that there was more than one gun involved. At the moment the witnesses said they heard more than two shots," he disclosed.

Ojiambo was detained on Friday evening, April 30, after police rescued the actor from an angry mob that was accusing him of misusing his firearm. The actor is also a trained private military contractor and weapons expert

The film producer was captured on CCTV cameras pulling out his gun after he was accosted by two muggers who wanted to rob him of his valuables.

Unfortunately, a security guard passed on while a passer-by incurred critical injuries following the incident.
