A boda boda rider rescued a pregnant woman who was about to deliver at a matatu terminus in Kahawa Wendani, Kiambu County on Thursday, May 13.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on Friday, May 14, Patrick Sammy stated that he had received numerous calls from anonymous people who appreciated him for the kind gesture.

Eyewitnesses stated that the motorbike rider- who was on duty - noted that the expectant mother was in discomfort while waiting to board a vehicle at the footbridge along Thika Road.

The laddy dropped her handbag after her water broke and even attempted to ease the pain by seating on the floor.

"She was due and in serious labour pain. Sammy rushed and carried her on his bike to MRS Hospital inside the Kahawa Barracks," the eye witness narrated, further disclosing that the rider did not charge his customer.

At the barracks, the soldiers broke protocol and allowed him to enter inside and wait for the expectant mother to deliver.

The eyewitness who was astounded by Sammy's act stated that the rider did not demand to be paid even after the lady delivered successfully.

Sammy explained that "I helped her like my own sister because of the pain she was feeling."

He further revealed that Kenyans and well-wishers who were touched by the story which made rounds on social media sent him over Ksh10,000.

"Sometimes it's good to help unconditionally. I was overwhelmed by the contributions sent. It really touched my heart," the rider told Kenyans.co.ke.

His act attracted reactions from a number of social media users who lauded him for the act, appreciating the fact that he prioritised the woman's life over a mere Ksh50.

"You are very blessed. Your act of kindness without demanding payment is not for nothing. Blessings are coming your way," June Meaghan wished. .

"May your avenues unlock a better life ahead. You are blessed together with your generations in Jesus name," Mwalimu Eric Mutwiri prayed.

"Hats off to you bro! May you never lack and be a lesson to many," James Thuo Kingori added.
