Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has launched an attack on United Democratic Alliance (UDA) officials alleging preferential treatment within the political outfit.
Ngunjiri pointed out that a section of the officials moved around alleging that they have Deputy President William Ruto's blessings in order to conduct affairs of the party.
"We are aware of agents of disunity moving around hoodwinking people that they have the blessings of the Deputy President to control affairs of UDA in counties.
"They have positioned people to take up positions as interim officials,” Ngunjiri stated.
His complaints came just days after he voted in support of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) bill that has been opposed by the majority of politicians allied to the DP.
Despite suspicion from Ruto's associates, Ngunjiri has insisted that his allegiance still lies with the DP and is keen to build UDA.
The vocal politician's sentiments were echoed by Uasin Gishu UDA coordinator Paul Kiprop who stated that some officials sought to hijack the party's leadership at the grassroots level.
The party is currently registering rallying Kenyans to register within the party as members. This is in preparation for grassroots elections which will be held at a later date.
The news comes as former Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri had revealed dissension within the Ruto camp after the DP recently met with Mt Kenya leaders.
“There are internal wrangles in UDA and recently I heard them accusing each other.
"Mukami (Nyeri Woman Rep) is accusing Rigathi (Mathira MP) of sidelining her in the meeting while in Nakuru, Kihika (Nakuru Senator) is in trouble for skipping the discussions,” Kiunjuri stated during an interview at Inooro TV.
The former CS also stated that he formed The Service Party of Kenya (TSP) instead of Joining UDA in order to have a backup plan in case the Ruto allied party crumbles.
“I am a supporter of the Deputy President but I cannot join UDA. I decided to form TSP so that if ever UDA goes up in flames, I will tell my Mt Kenya people that I had foreseen it,” Kiunjuri pointed out.
