Deputy President William Ruto allies have offered a peace deal to President Uhuru Kenyatta after they defeated Jubilee in several by-elections in the past months.
United Democratic Alliance (UDA) won ward seats in Rurii and London as Jubilee settled for Hell's Gate. Uhuru's party further lost the parliamentary seat to the People's Empowerment Party (PEP) led by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria.
Speaking to the press in Naivasha, Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri offered a truce to the President arguing that they were ready to help him rebuild his name and relation with Kenyans.
"We love Uhuru as our son and President. He was chosen by Kenyans who loved and supported him. When he went to the Hague (International Criminal Court -ICC), churches prayed for him too.
"The President needs to look back at where he came from, the people he was with first as he is losing touch with Kenyans," Ngunjiri who was perceived to be speaking on behalf of the Ruto camp stated.
However, the peace deal was attached with various conditions they wanted to be fulfilled and issues addressed. One, Ngunjiri asked Uhuru to sever links with Jubilee Secretary Raphael Tuju and Vice Chairman David Murathe who he accused of misleading the head of state.
"They are power brokers who have divided the nation. They are lying to you. Imagine they even chased away Ruto from the party and barred him from the State House.
"Yes, you have a very good track record in terms of development. Alongside the DP, you have done a lot in your years in office. There is only one problem though, what political legacy will you leave behind?" Ngunjiri wondered.
Secondly, the Jubilee MP urged Uhuru to listen to the voice of the common mwananchi and unite the divided nation. Ngunjiri argued that the people were voting against the government and were frustrated by his power brokers.
Third, he asked the President to sit down with the DP and solve their differences. The two, he argued, only knew the agreement they sealed in 2013 and all the other players from both camps were included thereafter, unaware of the deal made.
ODM leader Raila Odinga and his allies further alluded to revisiting the handshake with the President accusing police of interfering with elections. Raila's party won the Bonchari by-election with Jubilee coming second.
Edwin Sifuna, ODM's Secretary-General has led the onslaught against Interior CS Fred Matiang'i, and pushed the President to fire the CS and police bosses.
Uhuru was reported to have blamed Tuju, Murathe and senior government officials for bungling the Juja and Rurii by-elections. What hurt him most was losing to DP Ruto and Moses Kuria and the police brutality witnessed in the elections.
"He chased everyone away at State House. He ordered them to leave and go home as they had not provided enough explanation as to why they lost the by-elections. The President couldn't understand why Murathe and Tuju kept claiming that they were rigged out yet the election was done publicly, same as the vote tallying," sources at State House stated.
