Comedian Timothy Kimani alias Njugush narrated how he resorted to dropping his wife Celestine Ndinda as the manager of Njugush creatives at a time when the company was reorganizing its policies in order to retain clients.
Speaking to Cleaning the Airwaves, Njugush pointed out that the company began attracting a variety of clients but ended up losing many deals due to inexperience.
"We needed to differentiate ourselves from other competitors, so it was said that Celestine had to stop being the manager as we needed someone who can push this since we were learning on the job. We needed a professional.
"It had reached a time we wanted to take our company to the next level. The reason why we needed to get serious is that we would get multiple jobs but ended up losing them," Njugush stated.
This, he stated, made them seek help from their friends in a bid to find an effective manager. Njugush asked Judy Nyawira-wife to fellow comedian and actor Abel Mutua for assistance.
"We are used to seeing her dealing with mega productions, so I decided to ask her for help because they (Abel and Nyawira) have been our go-to people for help," he explained.
Njugush detailed that Nyawira took the offer, quit her job and officially became their manager.
He noted that within a month's time, they were able to streamline production services which resulted to products such as Dereva series, Cele's reflections, among others.
He stated that the company revamped in a bid to suit the client's preferences. The comedian added that Abel's wife brought back the company's relationship with the clients who primarily were his fans.
"She changed the way we did things, she made us become professional and that was it," Njugush acknowledged.
Initially, the comedian had also shared a past experience where he was conned his first TV salary by a Nairobi landlord after paying the whole deposit, rent and utility expenses which amounted to Ksh20,000.
He realised the scheme after he was locked out of his house later that month and found a different landlord who demanded a receipt to back up payment claims but the comedian didn't have.
"Having not paid rent before, I was naive and easily trusted the landlord. I was confident knowing that I had covered my monthly rent," Njugush stated.
