Barely a week after Charles Odongo went viral for his ugali eating techniques, he has landed a lucrative deal with one of the betting firms in the country.

Odongo, whose video was shared multiple times on social media last week, entertained netizens when he was captured tossing his meal in the air before finally grabbing and eating it.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on Tuesday, June 8, Odongo, who is a fitness trainer by profession, stated that he has recorded more than 100 videos before any could go viral.

The internet sensation noted that he did not expect that the video could go so viral to a point of securing him a deal.

"I like doing videos that will leave people talking. I feel good when people are talking about me because it means that I am worthy. I'm also a person who likes making people happy and cracking their ribs as well," he said.

Odongo's viral video and endorsement remain a reminder that social media has disrupted the current business market, turning hype into profits.

The platform has led companies to change how they meet their potential clients and workers.

Odongo is just one among many who have used this method, whether by accident or by hard work, to stand out from the crowd and grasp opportunities.

Some of these celebrities include; Azziad Nasenya and Steve Simple Boy, who begun their journey after their videos went viral.

Others, however, faded back into obscurity as soon as the internet forgot about them.

Some of them include;  Michael Njogo Gitonga who went viral for his uncanny resemblance with President Uhuru Kenyatta. Another one is Martin Kamotho who became a celebrity after a photo of him eating githeri while queuing in 2017 was widely shared and a couple whose simple wedding cost Ksh100.

They were highly sought after by companies who all wanted to use their newly acquired fame to market their products. However, as soon as the fascination dwindled so did their fame.
