Charles Odongo also known as viral ugali man, was rewarded with a brand new car and a Ksh5 million cheque by a betting company. 

Odongo who hails from Ongata Rongai in Kajiado County was also provided with a fully-furnished gymnasium at a private ceremony held in Nairobi on Tuesday, June 15. 

The gym instructor thanked the betting company and promised to use the money and gym to uplift others and to guide the youth from engaging in crime. 

"My dad was a boxer and a fitness guy. I followed in his footsteps and I am proud of the far I have come with this betting company that has held my hand since day one.

"I used to work at a gym. However, I lost my job when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out. My dad asked me to save on rent and I relocated to our home where I built a small mabati shack," he recalled. 

Ugali man added that he lost most of his friends to crime. This motivated him to take up fitness and to use it to change society. 

While speaking at comedian Jalango's Youtube show the previous day, Odongo advised the youth to seize digital opportunities and create self-employment.

"Do not give up on any startup. Push hard. For me, I will own a full gym fitted with all the required equipment. I can't believe it - thanks to the betting company for sponsoring me," he stated. 

Jalang'o added that several other corporates had reached out to Ugali Man seeking to endorse him as their brand ambassadors. 

Odongo became an internet sensation after a video depicting his eating techniques went viral. he told Kenyans.co.ke that he recorded more than 100 videos but got lucky after only one was shared widely. 

"I like doing videos that will leave people talking. I feel good when people are talking about me because it means that I am worthy. I'm also a person who likes making people happy and cracking their ribs as well," he said.
