According to witnesses, a reversing Matatu, driven by the defendant, crushed her against another one that was stationary causing her severe head contusions.

Macharia is said to have been driving a 25-seater minibus operated under KMO Sacco at 8:00 AM when the tragedy occurred.

Upon realizing his actions, Magu took to his heels but was shortly caught along University Way and was taken to Central Police Station. Both vehicles involved in the incident were impounded after which investigations by police began.

At this time, Nelly was quickly transported to Kenyatta National Hospital where she succumbed to the injuries while being attended to by medics. The deceased’s body was then taken to Kenyatta University Funeral Home for preservation and postmortem.
