President Uhuru Kenyatta invited ODM leader Raila Odinga to his tour of Ukambani on Friday, July 9.

This came as a surprise for many who did not expect to see Mr Odinga on the trip since his party, ODM is feuding with perceived regional kingpin Kalonzo Musyoka's Wiper.

Odinga was spotted with Uhuru, Musyoka and Governors Charity Ngilu (Kitui), Alfred Mutua (Machakos) and Prof Kivutha Kibwani (Makueni) inspecting construction progress at Thwake Dam.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen mocked Odinga's presence at the tour stating that Musyoka "joined Raila who had accompanied the President".

Notably, when the President visited Kisumu for the Madaraka Day celebrations on Tuesday, June 1, Ukambani leaders were not present.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday, July 8, Kalonzo stated that he and Odinga would be discussing the NASA funds that caused a rift between the ODM leader and the rest of the party officials.

Musyoka, Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi, and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula resolved to submit the papers that will see the end of NASA.

The three principals vowed to renew the legal battle with ODM over the political party’s funds once the coalition was dissolved.

They added that they would compel ODM to account for every shilling disbursed to the joint account by the exchequer.

"The issue of discussion will be political parties funds. This is taxpayers money by the way," Kalonzo stated.

Uhuru had cancelled the Ukambani tour citing fears of spreading Covid-19 with masses coming out to meet him.

A section of media indicated that the Wiper Party Leader had scuttled the tour with his demands which were not supported by the three governors from the region.

It was further alleged that Wiper politicians wanted the development tour centered around Kalonzo Musyoka whereas the three governors were leaning towards showcasing their development records and projects.

Kalonzo maintained that claims that he has fallen out with governors are false, terming the allegations as a creation of the media.
