An employee revealed more information on the fire that gutted down the home Political Analyst Mutahi Ngunyi on Wednesday, July 14.

The worker, the family was at home when the inferno started past midnight. According to the employee, police were alerted and raised an alarm with the fire brigade who arrived late.

Speaking to the Standard, he remarked that the Ngunyi family was not hurt but nothing was saved in the inferno which gutted down the home Mutahi has lived for the last 27 years in the high-end Runda suburbs.

"The family was around when the fire started past midnight but no one was hurt. Nothing was saved because the fire engines delayed," he stated.

Runda Police confirmed that they were called at 2 am and responded immediately. They also informed the fire brigade who arrived at the scene and put out the fire until 4 am in the morning.

According to the officers, the family first noticed smoke billowing from the ceiling as it moved fast to other areas of the expansive home.

So far the cause of the fire has not been established but Kenya Power was at the scene to collect samples for forensic analysis at the government's chemist.

The news was first made public by communications and digital strategist Dennis Itumbi but with a less serious note that later culminated into a back and forth between him and Ngunyi.

"Dear Fire Brigade, please rush and save Mutahi Ngunyi's Runda House from fire. NMS (Nairobi Metropolitan Services), quick action for a guy who supports you if nothing else.

"Hope the man is safe and family ok. Other than the tweet, I can only pray that you suffer the least damage and be safe!" Itumbi wrote.

In a statement, the fierce analyst revealed that the incident occurred at around 1:45 a.m. He further disclosed that he had lived in the house for the past 27 years and that it was alarming that the incident occurred hours after he had made a video analysing Kiambaa violence of 2008,

"My house in Runda for 27 years went on fire at 1:45 a.m. Itumbi, you told the Hustlers at 2:01 a.m. About 16 minutes later. That is after I talked about the Kiambaa violence of 2008 on the 5th Estate," Ngunyi remarked.
