Jubilee Party has ordered a crisis meeting aimed at saving the ruling party from collapse after the Kiambaa by-election loss.

A report by Daily Nation on Sunday, July 18, indicated that the party members are set to meet on Wednesday, July 20, at the party's Pangani office.

The meeting will be aimed at finding solutions in order to save the party from total collapse ahead of the upcoming 2022 General Elections.

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, in relations to the meeting, noted that members of the party were unhappy and that an urgent solution needed to be made.

"Jubilee Party's core supporters are unhappy and urgent action is needed to forestall further downwards slide," stated Waiguru.

In the recently concluded Kiambaa by-election, Jubilee Party candidate Kariri Njama lost to UDA's John Wanjiku on Friday, July 16, 2021.

After the loss, some lawmakers in the party blamed it on the leadership of the ruling party including Secretary-General Raphael Tuju and Vice Chairman David Murathe.

Kieni MP Kanini Kega argued that top leaders of the party need to pave way for fresh leadership.

He argued that they failed to show up on the ground and offer support to Jubilee candidate Kariri in Kiambaa.

Additionally, Garissa Town MP Aden Duale stated Jubilee Party has serious structural problems. He claimed that the key organs of the Jubilee Party ceased to function.

He went on to assert that they cannot use a party that has serious problems in 2022.

In his defense, Murathe claimed that the party was pursuing the individuals who bungled the Kiambaa by-election.

He noted that they 'will have to account for the money they were given for campaigns." He added that he would not allow Tuju to be bullied yet he spent his own money.
