Governor Kiraitu Murungi is facing a lawsuit over his new book which has caused a buzz in the Meru political scene.

East Africa Legislative Assembly member Mpuru Aburi demanded that the governor remove his name from the book, stating that Kiraitu's actions pose political damage.

According to the Standard, the MP declared he was in the process of suing Kiraitu to have his name expunged from the book dubbed Beyond Politics: A Conversation with Kiraitu Murungi.

“I will go to court to have my name expunged from the book because it is tarnishing my reputation. Kiraitu knows I am a big threat to his political ambition of retaining governor’s seat and he is scared,” stated Aburi.

On the other hand, Kiraitu was also called out by Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya who termed the governor's account in the book as gossip.

"It is gossip. But as he writes books he should not be writing about Munya and Kawira. If he cannot work, he should be talking about himself, not others,” Munya remarked.

“If he wants to concentrate on writing books and becoming a journalist to do analysis, he should be given that job,” he added.

Woman Rep Kawira Mwangaza was also named in the book by Kiraitu, describing her as a cunning businesswoman who lacked vision.

"Her greed for money is insatiable and even her church is just a family business. Despite her claims to supernatural and divine powers, Kawira is a hoax," Kiraitu further alleged.

"Kawira is a self-proclaimed Bishop but in reality, she is a hypocrite deeply immersed in lies and deception of the people, especially the poor and illiterate," the governor stated in his book.

Addressing Kiraitu's remarks, Mwangaza stated that the governor is threatened by her potential, adding that his time as governor is up. She chided the Meru County boss for allegedly trying to scare her ahead of the 2022 general elections.

“Kiraitu should stop blaming the local media and realize political climate has changed and his season is gone. Kiraitu Murungi is a bully trying to scare a woman out of the 2022 gubernatorial race, I have already won the battle. He has sensed (an) early morning defeat (in) 2022,” she was quipped to the Standard.

The governor and Mwangaza have been at loggerheads in the recent past after the latter declared her bid to succeed him in the 2022 General elections.

The two traded barbs to prove political supremacy and gain momentum heading into the elections.
