The Facebook account of a suspected serial killer has offered insights into his thinking during and after the alleged murder of four people.
Innocent Kalio was arrested on Tuesday, July 28, in connection with the kidnapping and subsequent murder of university student Christine Ambani - who was also his girlfriend.
Kalio is believed to have hacked Christine to death and thereafter contacted her family asking for money - first impersonating her - and later demanding a ransom to free the girl he had already killed.
When her body was ultimately discovered, the suspect took to his social media page where he indicated remorse - even placing a curse on her killers.
In a Facebook post dated Friday, July 16, Kalio mourned the death of his lover, Christine Ambani, noting that her demise had hit him hard. He further stated that her killers would never know peace.
“This is more than worse to me. Rest easy my close person. They’ll never have peace,” he wrote in the post that has since gone viral.
On Sunday, July 25, Kalio made another post advising his followers on the social media platform not to be prisoners of their past.
“Never be a prisoner of your past. It was just a lesson, not a life sentence,” he posted.
Other posts showed that the suspect was a regular at clubs along Thika Road where he indicated his love for picking up women.
At one point, he decried that people often praise the dead after they have passed.
"People really have good things to talk about you, but you have to die first!" he stated.
Christine was reported missing after she failed to return after a visit to her boyfriend.
It was at that night he allegedly murdered his girlfriend mercilessly by stabbing her on the neck savagely and left her bleeding to her last breath.
Her sister Ruth told journalists she became suspicious after she missed an exam she was to sit the day after she visited Kalio.
"I had talked to her and realised she had missed an exam and it was a big thing. I went to where she lived in Githurai but she was not there," she said.
Ruth said the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Ksh87,000.
"I sent Ksh5,000 to show my commitment to sending the rest of the ransom and for them to send proof of life (that she was still alive.) The following day he told me to go to the mortuary as they did not want our money anymore."
Kalio is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Specialist Needs Education at a local university.
Earlier on February 2, 2021, Kalio was also linked by DCI detectives in the murder of at least three people who happened to be his brother, his sister-in-law and their one-year-old baby.
He was identified as the culprit behind the murders and was suspected to have murdered them by allegedly setting their house ablaze while they were inside.
The matter was investigated by Mumias based detectives under reference number DCI/CR/NO925/36/2021 and the case file was forwarded to the DPP for prosecution. Before the inquest into the matter was conducted, Kalio had allegedly attacked his grieving family again by disrupting the burial planning meetings that were ongoing and destroyed the family's property.
He was arrested, charged, and remanded at Kakamega G.K Prison. However, the case was withdrawn under unclear circumstances and the suspect was set free.
