Media personality Ben Kitili has resigned from KTN News after an eight-year stint at the station.

Highly placed sources at the station told Kenyans.co.ke that Kitili resigned on Tuesday, July 27, and would be heading to NTV to take the position of News Editor.

In the position, Kitili will be in charge of the NTV newsroom, guiding reporters and anchors as well as helping the station's news coverage.

"He will be helping the managing editor as well as anchor news and host shows," an insider intimated.

At KTN, Kitili hosted a political show (Inside Politics) every Sunday from 11 am to 1 pm where he interviewed political leaders from different factions. Additionally, he anchored prime-time news every Tuesday on Newsline.

The media personality will be returning to NTV where he had quit in 2013. Before his exit at the station, he had been hosting NTV Tonight alongside Lizz Ntonjira during the weekends.

Kitili's departure from the Standard Media Group came months after the Mombasa-road-based media house lost two of its best Swahili anchors.

Fridah Mwaka and Lofti Matambo also went to NTV where they have been hosting the 7pm weekend bulletins. Kenyans.co.ke had earlier reported that NTV was also targeting KTN News anchor Linda Ogutu to join the station.

The Standard Media Group restructured in March and reorganised the editorial department as part of the media houses' digital transformation plan.

The media house sought to adopt integrated workflows, scraping off and creating new positions that would see all departments work together in a cockpit newsroom.
