Central Kenya Jubilee Caucus has announced new strategies to rejuvenate the party ahead of the 2022 General Election.

In a meeting held Wednesday, August 18, the caucus proposed and resolved to make a raft of changes in the leadership with an aim of bringing on board more youthful and vibrant leaders as well as persuasive individuals who will make it the party of choice come next year.

The leadership overhaul, according to the caucus, will see those viewed as betrayers kicked out and replaced by individuals loyal to the party and President Uhuru Kenyatta. The new leaders are expected to takeover by August 30.

Additionally, the Uhuru-led party resolved to undertake a grassroots mobilisation exercise that will target areas in Central Kenya including Nyeri, Murang'a, Kirinyaga, Nakuru, Laikipia, Kiambu, and Nyandarua counties.

The exercise will see the party open seven new offices in the Mt Kenya region.

The Central Kenya Jubilee caucus further gave grassroots coordinators strict instructions to ensure that the party energy is reflected in the seven selected counties.

The lawmakers insisted that on top of their priority is how to rebrand the party as they approach like-minded parties that will deliver election victory in 2022.

"Following the Kiambaa by-election, we took time to engage with our party members and supporters at the grassroots. We sought to understand their views and sentiments about the direction of the party," part of the statement from the caucus read.

"We wish to affirm our support for the President's effort to unite the country by bringing different leaders together. Our roles as party members of the President's Jubilee Party is to rejuvenate the party and ensure that he has a strong and  disciplined political party supporting him."

This comes just a day after the party's National Management Committee and Parliamentary leadership approved a pre-election coalition agreement with the opposition Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Through a statement, Jubilee Secretary General, Raphael Tuju, on Tuesday, August 17, announced that the party had formally started engaging ODM Party in drawing a framework agreement on a pre-election coalition agreement.

"This development springs from an already existing good collaboration between the two parties in parliament on matters of National Interest. The two-party leaders, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Rt. Hon Raila Odinga have also cultivated a working relationship for a good of the country in an act of statesmanship that won praise internationally," Jubilee Party stated.
