In the process, his two accomplices quickly began collecting the money, obstructing police officers.
"The man was just standing up and began flushing the money to confuse the public. In the process, the public joined in collecting the money, almost obstructing the officers," one officer stated.
The officers, however outsmarted, the assailants and managed to corner him. In response, he opened fire at the police officers, who retaliated.

After a brief exchange of fire, the officers neutralised the robber. However, his two accomplices managed to escape amid the confusion when money was splashed on the streets.
Speaking to the media, the victim stated that he had just withdrawn Ksh100,000 from one of the banks in the CBD. He was then accosted by the three men.
"I has hit on my nose, by the time I reacted, I was already down, surrounded by three men," he narrated.
He added that when he tried to cling onto the money, one of them pulled out a gun, prompting him to let surrender. They then shouted to scare the public before making away with the loot.
