Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) has found a replacement for news anchor Fred Indimuli who recently called it quits at the state-owned broadcaster.

A promotional video posted by KBC on Thursday, September 9, indicated that John Kago, a former broadcaster at the station, would be taking the slot.

Kago will host prime time news on Friday alongside media personality Shiksha Arora.

"Every Friday, we will bring you up to date on the news that is shaping up within and out of our borders the John Kago way," Kago stated.

"We also bring you the latest interviews that touch on art, entertainment, music and social matters, the Shiksha Arora way," Arora weighed in.

Kago, who was a prominent news anchor back in the day, had quit in 2016 and ventured into business.

His name had been dragged into the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal, with claims that he had received part of the loot. He, however, denied the claims and sued a local publication for defamation.

The changes at KBC were made after Indimuli tendered his resignation upon bagging a deal at KTN News to replace the departed anchor Ben Kitili.

Indimuli was among the 10 new veterans and experienced journalists who joined KBC in mid-June, as part of the revamp plan to grow the national broadcaster's numbers.

Other faces that were unveiled during the relaunch included Tom Mboya, Catherine Kasavuli, Badi Muhsin, Cynthia Nyamai, Fayaz Kureish, Shiksha Arora, Ahmed Juma Bhalo, Nancy Onyancha and former NTV anchor Harith Salim.

Indimuli had worked at K24 TV before he was laid off alongside his colleagues over a pay cut dispute pitting the management against the employees.
