A senior police officer has shown an act of kindness by extending a helping hand to a girl in a viral photo reading while herding cows.

Kisii Police Commander Francis Kooli visited the girl on Saturday, September 18, and offered to support her academic journey.

The girl identified as Janet Memusi is a grade five pupil at Ololchani primary school in Transmara West Sub-County.

Her photo touched the police boss who was moved by her thirst for knowledge. He then organised a visit to ascertain what really was going on.

Other than just visiting her home alone, the police boss further went to Ololchani Primary School where she is enrolled.

The teachers told him that Memusi was a disciplined and hardworking girl whose efforts have paid off in her performance in school.

He, therefore, committed himself to further supporting Memusi's wellbeing as he continues with her education.

National Police Service (NPS) appreciating the act of kindness extended by Kooli stated the service is also committed to supporting education in society.

"The National Police Service is an active stakeholder in community matters through our elaborate community policing programs and we compliment the kids' Department to ensure best interests of kids are always upheld," the stated.

This comes just days after a grade six pupil from Jola Urabi Primary School touched the hearts of many after he was pictured writing his homework under a security light in Shanzu, Mombasa County.

The pupil identified as Salim Khamisi, was left with no option other than seeking other alternatives to get his homework done because his mother did not have money to buy electricity tokens.

Well-wishers have since come to the aid of the student and donated a number of items including; Solar panel, battery, switches, sockets, and an inverter.
