A debate ensued over Citizen TV news anchor Jeff Koinange's Sunday Live show, hosted alongside co-anchor Lilian Muli, on Sunday, September 19.

Koinange, a celebrated and award-winning journalist, seemingly struggled to read news on both the teleprompter and printed pamphlets, patching and repeating words several times.

The anchor fluffed his lines, starred at the teleprompter and occasionally shifted in his seat, looking quite uneasy.

He was also seemingly distant from himself, failed to use his trademark phrases and the happy or lively demeanour he always showcases.

"Is it just me or is it team mafisi everywhere," Koinange stated in response to a feature story about Ethiopia, covered by Komla-Dumor award winner and anchor, Waihiga Mwaura.

Mwaura showcased how Ethiopians tamed wild hyenas by personally feeding them and was quite timid when he met two of the wild animals face-to-face.

"I did not see that one coming, but I am definitely not doing such a sign-off. That was a brilliant sign off by Waihiga Mwaura and an even better story," Lilian Muli responded.

"Very bold. Lets us take a break here. Plenty more ahead folks, including that part two of the interview between Chief Justice, Martha K... Martha Koome and our very own Yvonne Mato...Yvonne Okwara Matola, " Koinange added in reference to co-anchor and colleague, Yvonne Okwara Matole.

"Keep tweeting at Koinange Jeff... @Hot_96 FM...," he added referring to a Royal Media Services (RMS) station in which he hosts a morning show every weekday.

The debate that ensued, later on, was that the Koinange - Muli anchoring partnership was seemingly dull and distant from Koinange's show with Komla-Dumor award winner, Victoria Rubadiri.

Lilian Muli replaced Rubadiri who went on a three-month leave to attend a training with the BBC in London, UK.

"Is Jeff Koinange okay? He's been fluffing his lines since the bulletin began, even forgetting some very obvious names," Gabriel Oguda commented.

"Is Jeff Koinange okay? Many unusual mistakes e.g. Hot 96, Yvonne Matola, etc etc...etc," Muchangi Wambogo added.

"What is wrong with Jeff Koinange and Lillian Muli tonight. They're dull and they're showing it to the viewers!" Levi Sitati lamented.
