As Eunice Liavuli took her two-month-old baby to the hospital on September 29, 2021, she had no clue that she would meet President Uhuru Kenyatta for the first time.
In an interview with a local TV station, Liavuli revealed that she took her daughter to the Kibera Level III Hospital due to her rising body temperature.
She further detailed how the baby was treated but was not discharged despite her fever dropping.
"The hospital staff asked us not to leave. They did not disclose the reason," Liavuli revealed.
The 29-year-old mother added that while seated on the hospital bed, she noticed Uhuru together with other government officials walking towards her, adding that the President requested to carry the baby.
"The President took the baby while saying 'hello'. Afterwards, my baby started to smile with the President.
"I was so shocked and confused at the same time. Uhuru was polite and friendly," the mother revealed.
In the Interview, the mother of two added that she considers the gesture by the Commander-in-Chief as a blessing.
"I believe this is a blessing to the baby, now and in her long life ahead. Being held by a President is a sign of good luck. A good sign," she added.
She further stated that her 'blessed baby' will do great exploits growing up.
However, the 29-year-old mother of two, stated that she hopes to meet the Head of State again in the near future.
On September 29, 2021, while in the company of Raila and the Nairobi Metropolitan Services Director General, Mohamed Badi, the President launched the Kibera Level III Hospital among other projects undertaken by NMS in Kibera.
